Just three??

It's going to be at least 5 picks and a player if this is what Stafford is commanding.

Stafford isn't winning the Rams the Super Bowl. He's not the missing link in the same way Deshaun would be for Miami.....or Pittsburgh. I feel like they're gonna get rid of Ben and start with a new QB. They were dropping hints about Darnold during the season, but if they get Deshaun it's over with him, Juju, and Claypool. Pittsburgh could give up 1st round picks for the next half decade and be cool with it.

You need a QB with Goff's contract going the other way though.

They gave up that much to get out from under Goff's shytty-ass contract. They had already given up on him and were desperate for anything other than Goff.
Getting out of goff's contract doesn't really do anything for them. He has a huge cap hit (22m) after the trade and they will still be in cap hell for years after handing out multiple huge contracts. This wasn't for money. Its cause they think Stafford is that much better than goff. I wonder if there is something going on behind the scenes with Goff and mcvay. Both mcvay and the gm have been throwing him under the bus and have been public with the idea of getting rid of him.

They were laying it out on LA radio a week ago and a trade was the best way to have any chance of winning a ring these next couple years. It's a smaller cap hit than waiving him or sticking him on the bench would have been. They think they have a team that could compete for a title in everything but the QB. But they couldn't just bench the QB and they couldn't just cut the QB cause his contract ate up too much room, and no one would trade for him for that same reason.

Yeah, of course they think Stafford will be better, they're hoping to win a title with Stafford. But the reason they were so desperate to trade Goff that they were willing to send two 1st-rounders was because that was the only way to dump his contract. No one else would have traded for him otherwise and so then they would have had to pay major money/trade capital for an upgrade at QB and still had that contract just sitting there as a backup on the bench.

But you still don't have a Superbowl level QB

Was Nick Foles a Superbowl QB? Is Jimmy G elite? Was Broncos Peyton lighting it up? Was Wilson a NFL MVP when the LoB carried him? Was Flacco consistently putting up MVP numbers leading up the Ravens SB?

My point is, with a stout defense, a running game and a QB who simply takes what the defense gives them, and doesnt fukk up...a team can get to a Super Bowl.

Stafford played on mediocre teams most of his career gotta admit.

And Goff was bad bro. His bad play, which was near guaranteed every other game, was among the worst in the league.

Stafford isnt a Aaron Rodgers level but theres a level of consistency in his output that Jared didnt have. A set benchmark.
I don't think many of you guys watched Padford on a regular basis. :jbhmm:

Not saying he's a complete bum but he's really streaky just like Goff. You see his big numbers in games and a lot of times that was put up in the 4th when the Lions were losing by 2-3 scores and the opposing defense went soft. Or there'd be games where he'd come out on fire for the first 2-3 drives of the game, then do nothing the next two and a half quarters.

Besides 2011, there were very few times where he was in control from start to finish of a game.

Doing nothing/offense stalling is a lot different than leading the NFL in turnovers.

Stafford isn't even Tent Dilfer or Brad Johnson.
