Personally I blame influencers who are taking advantage of male insecurities. Instead of teaching boys that's it's okay to be anxious, but to use it to their advantage and go through the motions of failure, they tell then that they are entitled, and no woman should ever reject them. It is a personal choice, but the atmosphere makes that the most accessible option. Add in that a lot of men are broke and don't have a strong social circle, it only compounds the problem.

And when there's less viable men available a lot of women are choosing to hold out, date someone who they know who is actively pursuing other options, freeze their eggs, become lesbian, whatever lol.
