this was the best TV episode they've done for the MCU. it felt most like an action/thriller.. most like The Winter Soldier. Absolutely no fat or corniness.. 
It does not help when his side kick is a super soldier and he's fighting an army of super soldiers. It literally makes him Cap in Avengers of directing traffic status.
Granted... A lot of this is that Mackie got a weak personal subplot that makes him look pretty dumb and ignorant at times to the real world. So, it kind of takes you out of it. This latest episode was the 1st time he showed any energy outside of his one monotonous persona. Him being mad was like, "Whoa... This man can command a room." Then, he goes back to being a plain salad with no dressing . The writing and direction feels like it constantly cut him off at the knees like they afraid his range isn't good enough. It doesn't help that Bucky gets the A1 sub plot, actions scene, interactions, and intrigue with a way more personal subplot.
Mackie gets a fishing boat. Like damn... That is weak. Give us the consoling subplot instead with him interacting with really broken people. It's a better parallel to Bucky story anyway.
But they do this cliché "We hate each other" act.
The show is still pretty good in spite of its decisions.

I was in here calling this show ass until Walker went crazy. That's the only spark it has left. They've done nothing interesting with Sam and Bucky and COMPLETELY ruined Zemo. The villains, exception being Walker, are absolute dookie.
