Way easier this way. Keeps you in the action and more reactive. Like when Arkham City added quickfire for Batman's gadgets. In my first playthroughs of the Spider-Man games, I usually go light on the gadgets and force myself to use them more in my second playthrough. This way will encourage me to use them more organically and intuitively.

had to turn it off…something about a higher FPS (whether it’s fidelity/40 or performance/60) gives it a weird look (soap opera effect I think it’s called)
