the absence of such a theme and the cut-driven-action tells me the direction will be poor.

You realize Marvel is on the ropes right now? They have to hype it up, and what earth-based Marvel movie hasn't destroyed some shyt that the general public isn't familiar with? Not sure how you're not seeing the narrative being built, the president himself said we need to activate Captain America again. Some secret underhanded shyt is going down and we need you. Tease a few new characters to generate interest, and a few lines of dialogue to show Mackie is ready to helm this shyt. Captain America LITERALLY has wings and you're saying do some new shyt.

I love how you're calling what the movie will be, without having even seen it. A trailer generates interest; nothing more, nothing less. And judging by the 4 million views in 4 hours, it's doing just fine by that standard. People STILL want to see a good Marvel movie. They're craving for it.

I'm not even a Captain America fan outside of the movies amd some of his comicbook villains, but this looks good so far.

BP2 will have the same fight and structural issues as BP1

if you/me/the untrained take their phone and film a fight it's going to feel plain and intimate. that's the default.
coogler doesn't know how to make grand scenes and can only do intimate. that's the problem.
remember "avengers assemble" .. coogler couldn't even do that 15 second scene in his wildest dreams. he can't structure it.
that doesn't matter for fruitvale or rocky but it does in super-hero action films.

it's the same with gringos/asians too. like in the casino, the car chase BP1, klauw in the museum, dora vs. french troops.
