The formula was to copy a young version of Justice League. Night Thrasher, Nova, Namorita speedball marvelboy and firestar equaled Batman Superman Wonder Woman, Flash Green Arrow and Black Canary.

there was race and class tension between Thrasher as a black billionaire and Nova as a "working-class" white boy. Marvel has been afraid to go there ever since. None of the subsequent books had the same energy they all failed.

Its even brought up in the Netflix thread. I'm not big on 'agenda' stuff either, but its clear as day in media now where you're not doing your job if you don't through a non hetero minority into the project in some capacity.
