I don't remember the Watcher dieing. If I go off memory I think Nick Fury assembles a team of heroes to do a covert mission in another country. Some villains show up but not anyone major like Doctor Doom and they fight. They end up killing someone and the mission was deemed a failure by the heros and Nick Fury goes into hiding. This was before secret invasion because if I remember right Nick Fury comes back at the end of that storyline.

Secret War

Nick Fury led a group of hand selected superheroes into Latveria on a secret war. The US government didn't sanction the action, the heroes in question (Spider-Man, Captain America, Daredevil, Wolverine, and Luke Cage) don't remember going (...). Fury believed that Latveria and their prime minister Lucia von Bardas (Dr Doom was trapped in Hell back then) were supporting terrorism by equipping B-List super villains with high-tech equipment. Whatever happened during the secret war was bad, it was shameful, and Fury has hidden the truth ever since. Now it's the present and the secret war has returned to bite him. Spidey, Daredevil, Captain America, S.H.I.E.L.D., and the Fantastic Four are facing horde of augmented villains.(...)[1]

Would you guys recommend reading Secret Wars? I mean like does the story hold up and is it interesting. I don't think the MCU will be close. I've read stuff like Civil War when it came out and Infinity War before they made movies and the stories are different than the movies.





I did read 2015 Secret Wars because that's what I thought people would talk about The only thing I remember from that was Nick Fury had a big ass gun and the heroes killed the wrong person(maybe) and Nick Fury did the race.

Exactly, there's no way you can Juelz your way into making it make sense. Now if you throw a curve and say that the Beyonder was impersonating a Kang in order to stir up more mischief for his enjoyment, I could understand that because it fits in the character's established motivations.

But being Kang? fukk no.
