Why? So if he does help him, you can somehow spin that into some kind of L or criticism towards Bret

I'll wait for Bret himself to confirm that. It's unusual that he would promise to help someone, especially Marty of all people, and not speak on it himself

I would tell you to be more concerned with why your lord and savior won't do more to help his former buddies Marty and Scott 'Alco' Hall...but even I can admit Hickenbottom doesn't owe these guys shyt. They've had plenty of chances in life to shape up.

On the same token, Bret knew he would look good to the smart marks if he offered (empty) vows of help. It's what he's been doing for 20 years. Bret's leading Marty on, and it's far worse than Shawn being honest with the guy. But they don't hear me though.
