Originality is a much higher risk than taking something established and spinning it. Established content already has a fanbase and brand while original content has to begin from scratch. It's why you don't see brand new superheroes all the time getting shine and instead spins on old ones. It's why people who complain about a black Spiderman or Iron Man need to shut the fukk up.
