Expecting about a .500 season from the Phillies RAJ has mismanaged this team to Bolivia, hopefully this is his last season as GM.

:snoop:

Nats and Braves fans have a lot to look forward to this season.

I've been a Braves homer since the days of Dale Murphy, but even I have to admit that this is now a feast or famine line-up. The only consistent OB guys (Marteeeen!/Bourne) are gone. Combine that with Gonzo's great ability to leave in pitchers for too long and I see a lot of should have/could have won games in our future due to a lack of timely hits. I hope I am wrong though.

I am more worried about Philly than Washington next year. Give them some health and they can be scary. The Nats got a lot of talent but we ain't got no worries.

:salute:

This is a bounceback year for us, and I'm not even gonna talk shyt OR pay attention to the haters (even though these Braves fans need to actually, yunno, WIN SOMETHING before anybody gives y'all props as a threat in this division....didn't ERE'BODY pick y'all nikkas to win it LAST year? :stopitslime: We see what happened there..... ).

(*subs thread for potential fukkery later*)

Is Young going to start?

They were f**king hard to beat when Howard and Utley was healthy. Much harder than the Nats.

Brown isn't a starter right now.

Young is def’nitely starting, it’s his job (also, people kill me…..Young was hitting about .300 or so from September to the end of the year after being unhealthy all year, he’s poised to be very productive for us).

Utley is finally healthy and participated fully in Winter ball for the first time in three years. Howard will be Howard, especially if he’s protected in the lineup now.

Dom Brown has been somewhat unfairly treated because when they first brought him up they expected him to be the savior and when that didn’t work, they trashed him. His psyche took a hit as a result. So really, his shortcomings at this point are THEIR fault.

People like “the Phillies are old…”….well DUH. No shyt, sherlocks. But being an older team isn’t an automatic death knell like some keep suggesting (lookit the Celtics). Plus, let’s not act like we don’t have young talent on the team still, both in the outfield and in the bullpen.

But like I said….we’ll see. We’ll see.

Expecting about a .500 season from the Phillies…

Nah, we were around that last year and have def'nitely improved the team (ESPCIALLY the bullpen, and a lot of our losses last year came in BLOWN leads in the 7th and 8th, hopefully Mike Adams addresses that) AND we’ve gotten healthier.

RAJ has mismanaged this team to Bolivia, hopefully this is his last season as GM…

:what:

He addressed every need the team had and stayed WAAAAY under the tax threshold in doing so…ANYBODY you could complain that he signed, was signed for the LOOOOOOOOW. In fact, this is ARGUABLY his best offseason so far, with the moves he’s made and the money he’s saved doing so. I mean, our farm system is bare, so for him to be saving all this money is a MAJOR coup.

He had no payroll flexibility because of the contracts he has given players.

I usually think Bill Baer is too pessimistic but I agree with him completely on this article. Crashburn Alley » Blog Archive » Failure in Philadelphia

I love the Phils to death but they have a lot of problems and fixing them is going to be a multi-year process. This isn't the NFL where you can just cut players with bad contracts.

I'm aware of that.

But the fact that he's addressed every offseason need THIS time without paying hardly anything is a step in the right direction.

I think this team is going to be much better than people think.
