I was infantry & never experienced covert racism. Then again my first unit for some reason had alotta black infantrymen as well as puerto rican guys that switched from guard to ADMan brehs listen...
As black folk we are in a gray area. We are inside the belly of the beast. Don't look down on brehs for joining the military. It's rather they maintain their blackness while in there that counts.
In the Army...me and my brehs kept it nikkarish! The same thing nikkas doing out here on these streets we were doing in the service.
Actually I never experienced any overt racism in the Army from Army personnel. We actually gelled pretty good. They fed us there wasn't any black or white, just green, and that's pretty much how it played out.
The military actually shows how a society can look when everyone is treated equal. All of our pay is the same, promotion is on you, many higher enlisted are black. Now the Officer side is different.
It's only when you're in a cac unit that you feel a little in the air. A cac unit is usually Spec Ops, cause quite frankly, brehs not joining to prove how tough they are for the most part. We're coming out a war zone back home and looking for the easiest specialty we can get.
Myself, enlisted as personnel. It wasn't until a year after I was in and saw the perks combat arms got, that I volunteered for Ranger. In spec ops is where I noticed the covert racism. As I said, it's those 90% cac units where shyt can go down. They treated me like the plague until I made an effort to show them I won't beat their ass for jokes. Got too comfortable and I did have to throttle a cac but...
Got my tabs and went back to personnel. after that they always assigned me to Infantry units.
Good for u man.I'm thankful my family was well to do enough to pay for my college education and I graduated with no debts.
I would never join this disguting white supremacist nation's armed forces....thankfully at 33 I'm too old to even think of the military, not that I would anyways.
Exactly.I have plenty white and hispanic friends, but I would never ever actually trust them
You really want to fight for Drumpf's military and go on a genocide campaign in Africa just cause he hates black people?Washington (CNN) Americans should anticipate more military operations in Africa as the war on terrorism continues to morph, Sen. Lindsey Graham warned Friday.
"This war is getting hot in places that it's been cool, and we've got to go where the enemy takes us," Graham told reporters on Capitol Hill.
The South Carolina Republican's comments came after a meeting with Defense Secretary James Mattis and followed the news that four US servicemen were killed in action in Niger in an ambush by ISIS fighters.
"The war is headed to Africa, Graham said. "It's beginning to morph. As we suppress the enemy in the Mideast, they're going to move, they're not going to quit."
Graham also said "the rules of engagement are going to change," and explained that the US approach to counterterrorism operations will be more aggressive, moving to what he called "status-based targeting."
"So, if you find somebody who's the member of a terrorist organization, then we can use lethal force, they don't have to present an immediate threat," he said.
Graham added that authority for decision-making will also shift from the White House to the field, echoing some of President Donald Trump's plans for the United States in Afghanistan.
"Micromanagement from Washington, DC, does not win battles," Trump said in August.
Graham argued that with more autonomy in the field, it will be necessary for the administration to keep Congress informed, "because if we don't like what you're doing we can cut off the funding. But for us to make that decision, we got to know what you're doing."
