Respectfully, yes Mariah did fall off but Beyonce never had an era of dominance like she did in the 90s. Even Whitney Houston.

From 86-92, Whitney Houston was ubiquitous. She was Michael Jackson/Prince level of stardom. And from 92-97, Mariah Carey was everywhere. Longest number ones, albums going diamond.

Beyonce has never had a “Bodyguard Soundtrack” or a “Daydream/Music Box”. I know her fanbase live in an enclave where she’s reached those heights but none of her albums have been era defining.

Is she talented? Absolutely. Is she a great performer? No doubt.

But she doesn’t have a Thriller, Purple Rain, Confessions era which redefined the music industry. She doesn’t have one diamond album or one close to it. Even Usher managed to do it in the same era as herself so there’s no excuse.
