I don't understand this though. I thought she left WWE to work in fashion or whatever and now she's back in wrestling but for ROH?

WWE doesn't want her. They FIRED her in the first place because she was starting to get too big of a head and make demands about her schedule, whether they should get a cut of her projects.
Then she left and tried to do music, fashion and television, but as it turns out wasn't as talented or connected as she thought, couldn't get bookings, album flopped, started dating a wrestler and he got her a job back in ROH.
WWE doesn't want her back. If you watch her interviews closely you can tell she has a ratchet attitude like most of those former divas who left and thought they were bigger than they were.

I stopped watching wrestling a lot in the late 90's/early 2000's so I never saw Maria on WWE. But I recently got back into watching wrestling and I started watching WWE again this year only to find it boring now. So my brother told me to check out Ring of Honor and I was shocked to see the balance of wrestling and talking. Then once I saw Maria, I was hooked!
