Was pulling for Gugu, but not against Jurnee at all.
Let me find out the ladies are gonna save the DCEU...
Shouldn't be too surprised if you look at what WB's been doing both in and out of DC.
- This year,
Ocean's 8 made ~$300 mill on a $70 budget. That's a film with a similar appeal to BoP making back 4x its production cost. On top of that, they got
Crazy Rich Asians, another female centered movie, tearing it up for them right now.
- Biggest successes of the DCEU thus far are
Wonder Woman (movie and Gal Gadot's portrayal of the character) and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn.
- The DCCW universe is full of popular female characters and that shyt is has been going strong for 7 years now. They've already got Supergirl and their next big TV productions are going to be
Batwoman and
Stargirl (though the latter is for their streaming service).
- Revived
Young Justice when that show was documented as having a larelgy female fanbase.
- In the comics, they been making big play for the female audience and introducing new female characters. Characters like Jessica Cruz and Mera have been getting big pushes in the comics to prep audiences to see them in other DC media like
Superhero Girls and
Aquaman.
Basically, Warner's knows where their bread is about to be buttered in this superhero shyt. I'm all for it, honestly. DC has a pretty deep bench for female characters.
