Yeah I agree, aside from that one disgusting tidbit it's really not a bad religion. But this just shows you how tough Judaism had to of been to make it this far in human history. So many faiths have boomed and bust over the centuries yet they're still here.

The reason those passages were written was because old Hebrews did indeed engage in such sacrifices. Then "God" writes that he deliberately made up all those old commands "as punishments" and didn't really mean them. Does that sound reasonable to you, friend? God sounds like he might have a mental illness.
