Question: Why didn't Smart just flat-out say exactly what dude said to him

I asked before whether or not he ever did this, and nobody replied. nikkas are still arguing for this n-word scenario yet it seems like they don't even know if Smart himself confirmed it

To my knowledge, all we have is that "someone claimed they heard him say that the fan called him the n-word"

This dude is apologizing, yet he never once clarified what the fan said? Why not?

If the fan said anything racial, then I can't believe for one second that Smart wouldn't have brought it up (or wouldn't have been "allowed" to bring it up). Even with the apology, he would've still said something like "well he called me the n-word and I lost it, but I was still wrong for putting hands on him"
