I mean, Gortat was a solid player but he is washed himself.

On any decent team he is coming off the bench himself :ld:

We saw his decline this year. He was great from December to All Star Break but since he's been very hit or miss on offense and having lapses on defense

He's still a great rebounder and screen setter.

Plus he's healthy and on a bargain contract.

If only we had a young C behind him

sad shyt they wont fire him, they will use a bad start and a great regular season finish as the reason why this project is a success. Then they will use the 2nd round performance as the sign that they should stack up the team with more garbage role players to help them win now.

This team basically ended their rebuild one year too early when they started signing guys like gortat, nene, ariza, etc...now they depend on development of wall, beal and porter to carry this team. Another good drafted guy woulda made them conference finals

Yup. Ernie fukks up a signing and then trades the contract with a 1st round pick to dump it

So many opportunities to improve the bench with cheap young talent has been bypassed

Oubre is going to have to take a leap too

If the wizards cant beat the team who's gm has no faith in making them a win now team, then this pretty much is the ceiling for wizards squad. Sad. It was a great opportunity for conference finals
this is 100% true. This is what I feared after last summer. There is not much room for growth now. The only hope is to some how get Cousins in 2019.

That or luck up and hope Oubre develops into a really good player. Brooks not even playing him in a game 7.....Stevens trusted Jaylen Brown and he was making plays. :snoop:

I think Ernie is banking on/praying that Beal and Wall have another level of improvement in their weakest areas.

If Beal's handle improves and Wall's jumper becomes consistent then the ceiling is certainly higher. Its going to be on development because the rest of the roster is going to be fukked because of Ernie.

Brooks loves Otto, he raved about him all summer and he is probably counting on him becoming a much better scorer by improving his handles and playmaking ability.

Obviously, Wall has to improve his jumper and conditioning and Beal has to get better handles play make better, and get stronger. But this team cannot add to this roster to improve. Its a mess.

I am blown too because the media in this area don't see the big picture.

You have people talking about "If Otto gets a max or near it, let him walk"

I'm like, hello? They're capped out regardless. Why lose a 23 year old kid who's improved for nothing? And the starting unit and the trio of Wall-Beal-Porter is always a net positive vs. their opponents.

No one in the media market is talking of the failed asset management of Grunfeld. I listened to 106.7 earlier and some callers were saying what we're saying, everyone sees it but the media and the front office which is shielded away.

This is why I was hoping for a lottery season with the good draft class. Grunfeld would have been gone and someone like Danny Ferry who's infinitely better despite :cacmjpls: would be able to assemble talent through the draft and low level pickups in an innovative fashion. Weaver in OKC would be a fantastic pickup to be the GM.

and there's only one person to blame for all this: Ernie Grunfeld. He's a sickness brehs, add that to Wall and Beal not getting along and lo and behold, you got a trash squad
