Well we don't know if there will be a national uproar until if/when it happens.
The NFL is banking on the fact that people are going to continue watching the sport regardless even if they complain about it, which other situations since have proven they still will.
If 10 years ago someone would have asked an NFL executive if a rapper could get on stage during halftime of the game’s biggest yearly event, grab a microphone, and with his entire chest bellow “HEY DRAKE! I HEARD YOU LIKE EM YOUNG! YOU BETTER NOT EVER GO TO CELL BLOCK ONE!” I’d bet you your last dollar the response would not have been “He can do whatever he wants”.
Now the entire world is expecting it. To the point where the NFL itself is using the song for promotional ads. Executives and insiders are shrugging their shoulders at the notion and nobody gives a fukk whatsoever that someone filed a multimillion dollar defamation lawsuit over said song.
Like I said, we went from one woman, who had previously been a 25 year superstar, almost losing the entirety of her mainstream cache over half a second of her nipple being exposed, to the world anxiously awaiting for a rapper to lyrically stomp a mudhole into the chest of another rapper with pedophilia allegations, with zero backlash predicted.
How far we’ve come/fallen as a society is up to every individual to figure out for themselves. I’m just here for the fukkery and because Drake sucks.
