My issue with the black excellence thing is the way it's constantly used to highlight wealth that has no impact on any black person's life besides the person who earned it. How many threads have we had full of people crying about "black wealth" being at danger because an athlete marries a white woman. Or cheerleading a liquor deal that a black celeb signs. How does any of this impact your community?

Even with Jay/Beyonce....it's cool they bailed out some activists and help pay college for some black kids but in the grand scheme of things? This is not some mass movement of wealth transferring from rich black people to poor black people.

I don’t support exploitation but I do think the way your make your money matters. Entertainment is one thing… Industry and finance is another.

We need more black billionaires. Think of all of the media and propaganda efforts funded against us by nonprofits and think tanks and other charitable efforts with agenda driven motives?

Why are we expected to forfeit any sort of economic leverage with some generic notion of having to look out for everyone primarily?
No one said they got to look out generally but they can’t be hostile to us. If they are you just get a billionaire version of Clarence Thomas and honestly we would be better without that than with that existing.

This is a misleading title. They were speaking about how the concept of black excellence is used as a tool to keep the black community asleep. We focus more on celebrating the individual that made it out of the hood instead of focusing on group economics that could raise more people out of poverty together. The billionaire aspect of it came from an example of do we celebrate a black billionaire if he made his money from the industrial prison industry.

Bingo.

nikka said trans people can have babies, he panders to who ever will cut him a check
But apparently he is the overwhelming favorite on the show. So everybody is telling on themselves. This is what a lot people in this demo identify with.

:patrice: I thought black excellence was about successful black people outside of sports and entertainment, what happened to that

I think we should be careful. It's not cool that white people got to enjoy being wealthy for centuries and the moment some of our people get to exist in these spaces, now billionaires shouldn't exist. I think the right argument is that they should be taxed heavily, as in like an 80% tax rate on their earned income and the capital gains tax rate should shoot up from like 15% to like maybe 45% to 50% and also if you're taking loans against your assets to get income and avoid these taxes, you should be penalized also. The point is not to get rid of them because you can't. Its unrealistic. The point is to make them pay their fair share and force them to invest back into their companies and create jobs.

He knows how to articulate his points well and honestly that's all it takes. I agree with him on certain topics, but it's times where he will straight up not answer a question and talk his way out of it.

They don't hate money. They hate the exploitation and systemic inequality that come with hoarding obscene amounts of it, and the social cost of extreme wealth concentration.

I agree to a certain extent and we could go on for days. The black dollar should be treated with the upmost respect. There’s a lot of responsibility on said black billionaire to reach back and open some doors. The Boule should be in favor of that but they’ve proved to be in opposition.
I’ve seen what men of access and resources have done for those without. I’m not saying everyone will be saved, all we need is a few.

I almost wish more African billionaires would make inroads with the USA diaspora and start dropping off bags :sas2:
