They demoed this for all the top Tarkov streamers behind closed doors last year... and every one of them shyt all over it. :laff::laff::laff: Marathon is the Dragon Age Dreadwolf/Veilguard of FPS games rn; development has stalled and subsequently restarted in a completely different form from the ground up at least 2 times already since its announcement. And Bungie's ability to make a "competitive" shooter has been non-existent ever since Halo 3. But they're going to have to somehow compete on the same grounds as CoD/Apex/Fortnite... in the currently most niche of all live service lanes in extraction shooters. Good luck to em... :hubie::francis:

bungie should've been restructured and trimmed down 3-4 years ago

that kind of bloat for a company with one active game never made any sense.

the fact they've never been able to monetize around pvp specifically or develop a decent on-ramp for new players is absurd

they own their target audience - but that group is older and not about to dive headfirst into a new IP for the hell of it. wouldn't be shocked at all if they take what they can from marathon and roll it into 2027 D3

The D
Most publishers would kill for a series like Halo and Destiny, they fed the streets for years with Uber massive releases now I'm supposed to believe they just lost that ? :camby: (respectfully)
the people who make the classics usually leave at some point then the fall off happens :manny: look at DICE for example, battlefield 1 was the last great bf game and most of the talent left after that game

Idk why it's hard to believe. Bungie basically limped through this entire Destiny era. They absolutely needed Acti/Blizz resources to course correct Destiny 2. Sony bought them and they started what? 2-3? side projects while their supposed 10 year baby suffered. They definitely had some kinda upper management/direction problem.

I think the market is wide open for a AAA extraction shooter. Like you said it's niche, hasn't really blown yet (a big console version) so someone could be the 2019/2020 PUBG for it still but I do not think current Bungie has it in them at all lol

I'll also add that destiny fans and the people covering this thing recently miss a lot of common sense marks. The expansions are plainly too big. Almost always.

Europa as a destination is a testament to empty space and effects that can't be easily transitioned elsewhere. While that expansion was good overall, the amount of work that isn't used anywhere else is absurd. In just that one instance, we never see any of the Bray trials reused, the Variks bounties/hunts are not only in abandoned spaces but the rewards can't even keep pace with other activities, the majority of Riis and the underground areas are collecting dust and only the lost sectors see regular use, the bosses unique to that are don't get touched, the environmental stuff is a wash, etc.

That's just *one* expansion to. Neomuna is an abandoned mall from the 80s now. And even though Shadowkeep gets downplayed, there are plenty adaptable and reuseable spaces there that are dynamic enough to match future content/set pieces.

Its stuff like that which makes a lot of Bungie's shyt look wholly self-inflicted
