Spence Floyd stans mad at Thurman because he hasn't fought Spence yet, calling him a ducker and a coward. That narrative has been pushed for years, all because of Floyd (which is why I'm bringing up his name, because he's the reason for this narrative).
This narrative started because Thurman was calling out Floyd, and so Floyd would respond by saying he should fight Spence instead. Mind you, Thurman had already said he met Spence in person and told him he was a good fighter and that he looked forward to meeting him in the ring in the future. But Thurman wasn't gonna fight him back then.
Just like nobody else was gonna fight him because Spence wasn't a big fight for them and guys like Porter and Thurman (and later Danny Garcia) were looking for bigger fights. Thurman went through the same shyt and nobody said shyt. But now that Spence came along it's an outrage? What makes Spence so different/special? Simple: because Floyd co-signed him and attached his name to Spence.
As somebody who's been posting/talking boxing on both The Coli and Boxden for like 7 years, I can tell you that the majority of posters on both sites (outside of the posters that post in The Ring Boxing thread) are casual boxing fans, who mainly pop up when Floyd is the topic of discussion. And as someone who has been aware of Spence for over 5 years, I can count number of times I've seen his name brought up prior to 2015 on my hands. Nobody was knew who Spence was or didn't care about him until Floys gave him the co-sign. 90% of the Spence stans here are Floyd stans. Stanning by proxy lmao.Then everyone was "Spence this! Spence that! Thurman's ducking Spence! Everyone's ducking Spence!" Basically parroting whatever Floyd says like the mindless stans they are. And because Thurman's name was brought up, he bore the brunt of the aggression.
Don't get me wrong, I like Spence alot. Always have. He's a damn good fighter, and he very well may be as special as advertised. But back then he wasn't a name. So nobody was gonna fight him. Now 5 years later, he's solified himseld as a Tier 1 fighter in the a big time player in the division. And what do you know? He's getting lined up for big fights now. Him and Porter are going at it next, and if Thurman beats Pacquiao they'll definitely be fighting soon.
Truth be told this fight would be happening now or probably would have happened already had Thurman not got hurt. Now you have idiot stans that think he got hurt to avoid Spence and said how the fact that he had surgery around the time of the Spence fight was proof
The funniest part is that these guys don't even think Thurman is that good. If you don't think Thurman is that good, why you pressed to see Spence fight him
In their mind they just want Spence to fight him so he could knock him off and they can further elevate Spence aka dikkride because dikkriding Spence is just like dikkriding Floyd
