Investigators suspect Friedland was targeted at The Mall at Short Hills by members of a carjacking ring who were after his silver-colored SUV.

“Dustin was rational, intelligent and had great judgment,” said Adam Leitman Bailey. “I highly doubt that he fought the attackers to save his car. I do believe he would fight for his wife’s life.”

Something's not adding up in this story... why wouldn't the guy just give them the keys and tell his wife to get out of the car? And then the wife "lived" to tell the story and to be able to possibly identify them?

It's an awful situation, and if caught the people who committed this crime need to be brought to justice. But something is fishy here.

Sounds like the driver resisted.....i hate to speculate but maybe had he said "WIFE GET OUT THE CAR" and gave them the keys...i dunno maybe it wouldve ended differently. I mean because in the end they still got the car and let her out

The man gunned down by callous carjackers at an upscale New Jersey mall was remembered as a devoted husband and sharp attorney – and wanted to be a dad, friends said Monday.

Dustin Friedland was shot in the head in front of his wife, Jamie, after a violent carjacking by two still at-large assailants at The Mall at Short Hills late Sunday night. A manhunt is underway to locate the two suspects, authorities said.

The couple, both graduates of Syracuse University's law program, were madly in love and planning to have their first kid, the wife's boss, Adam Leitman Bailey told The Daily News.

From Short Hills Mall you can get to Newark several ways. Either jump on Rt 24 to 78 East or take local streets like down JFK pkwy to like 280 or dowjn South Orange ave. More than likely they took 24 to 78 which is all highway and lots of exits and lots more places to ditch the car off thos exits once you get past Vauxhall, Hillside etc. More than likely this was done by nikkas. It aint safe nowhere in NJ and its mind blowing how people sleep around the holidays or in general. If dude fought or resisted I commend him but it wasnt worth his life. Sad what happened. I would never expect something like this to happen in Short Hills mall of all places. That supposed to be the "rich" mall. You can't escape the bs anywhere you go I guess.

Police are on high alert after this. I was ridin through Newark today and got followed and stopped by the police smh.

Hope white people realize just because you blocked yourself off in the suburb doesnt mean that youre safe. shyt happens everywhere and its about time we all take action about this type of shyt.
