The creator of Berserk, the creator of High School of the dead, the creator of Stigma of the Wind. shyt the creators of HxH and D.Gray man are both sick from overwork.
Only one of those I knew about and read was Berserk, that sucks.
:mjlol: at Togashi and overwork in the same sentence

Finished Chainsaw Man and boy, that was shonen fukkery done masterfully. I loved how even though it didn't touch on deep or complex themes/story arcs you could still see how everything was set up and thought of since issue 1 and it kept paying off as the story kept advancing.

I'm very fukking interested in how the animate this because it could legit leave a mark or get ruined depending on how they do it.
is that shyt good looked meh to me and the mc uses chainsaw powers or sum shyt?

started tower of god and man does the art get better or is there a manga/mawha version of the webcomic?

:dahell: the reason he can't work anymore is because his body fall apart after so many years working for Weekly Shonen Jump. Dude worked 90 to the the mid 00's and his health went to shyt. The breh ain't on hiatus because he's a troll like GRRM.
:mjlol:

Nah man. Dudes work ethic is beyond suspect at this point. It was suspect with YYH ending. Even more suspect when he was active with HxH. He only drops volumes to pay bills and they're full of text that dont advance the story. Between that, the scribbles & hiatuses he's been a gold standard for mangaka bullshytting.

Not saying he has to be Oda outchea but Togashi has had issues beyond his health and its been apparent for a long ass time. I personally think he's just creatively drained or a big picture guy who prefers to work when inspired and may lose his sparks in between chapter to chapter grind.

Both YYH and HxH have a feel where a grand plot was never really thought out beforehand but the manga was too good for you to care. HxH's world especially just seemed like a blank canvas where he could insert whatever happened to inspire him at the moment (videogame world, dodgeball match, the appraisal arc etc)

That's a different issue, I'm talking about workload that mangaka go through. Togashi had a 1 week break out of the 189 weeks he wrote YYH. Not sure how that makes his work ethic suspect. We can talk about his creative process and motivations, sure, but that's another thing altogether.

Togashi was complaining in the authors notes, just like Miura, when he was doing the Greed Island and Chimera Ants volumes. It reads just as depressing as Miura's too.

It fukking sucks, but it makes sense he doesn't want to put the work needed. Specially because nothing seems to point to his back pain being fake. Back issues are no joke :manny:

You're exaggerating, he had no non scheduled breaks during YYH but overall the same schedule as all his peers. But YYH barely made it over 100 chapters before he burned out and rushed it to a shytty ending.

The laziness shows in his work. I don't know how this type of art goes on multiple for chapters yet someone doesn't pick up on the idgaf energy at all

At this stage of his career he doesn't even have to draw. Jump had been trying to get him to lean on his assistants more since the scribble era. He refuses and opts for a decade long hiatus the moment a new Dragon Quest drops. :francis:This nikka is not sick.

I don't wanna harp on it since I've read about how intense the manga author workload is but damn. The dude who draws Fairy Tail has been drawing 2-3 series at once without missing a beat. Mura was drawing Sistine Chapel level art while deathly sick. Oda has plugged away at a giant story with consistent art while having health issues that were actually confirm. Same thing with World Trigger's author. Togashi's health struggle has been mostly hearsay after the first scares/hiatus.

Togashi takes 10 years to release a handful of chapters that are either scribbled garbage or taking every professional shortcut imaginable for a mangaka.

I see it as 100% creative burnout. It shows in the art and the story. The love in his work just aint there
