Man...Why are Parrots so expensive?

I had to google this cause I never heard of these species. Those thangs can live up to 20-40 years on a healthy dietHow much did it cost you? I've got two parakeets but I've been thinking about upgrading to a conure
thats what they tell me, 15-20 years realistically. 80% chance of talking (smaller vocal chords). paid $200 thru a family friend, i think they are usually 4-500
think of it as a small to the conure's medium size, same exact size of a parakeet

a budgie will actually live almost as long as a parrot if taken care of properly, a lovebird too

they should actually lower the price of them though. The high price has created an underground market of sneaking baby birds in the country using horrible means like stuffing them in PVC pipes and shyt and hoping they are alive when they get to the destination. I doubt anybody is smuggling budgies through pvc pipes.
