Ownership of assets is simply how capitalist economies work. Just like owning a car, PlayStations, businesses, stocks and bonds. You mad at that go live in North Korea.

It’s also technically “rent seeking” if you ask for a raise at your job according to your definition. You didn’t create any extra value to warrant a raise. Or if you quit and get hired somewhere else for more money doing the same work and same hours. I suppose you won’t admit that either.

I’m not following here. Almost every career I had you needed to have an interview to get a raise and explain why. So yes in my world (career world) you do need to add value to get a raise

My friend and her hubby pull in a combined salary of near 300K and they are complaining about landlords as well.

She isn’t happy her rent is going up almost 100% after her lease.

Silly post people always talk on how financially conscience wealthy people are but the minute someone complains about a cost y’all call them “poor”

I didn't watch any video or read any article.

Theoretically, landlord add value by managing the place (being responsible for certain services and expenses, dealing with the city, etc). They also shoulder the long-term financial responsibility. The value added is the convenience of having a roof over your head without the long-term responsability.

Imagine if instead of renting a car you had to buy a car each time you plan a road trip and then had to sell it when it's done.

There is value in the flexibility the landlord offers. If i don't like living somewhere i can leave after the lease is up and don't have to worry about a mortgage or selling the place. That's the landlords problem. How much that value is worth, that's another discussion

Landlords have been around since we had Kings and Queens. Hence the term.....Land.....Lord. None of yall complaining are going to change anything. Buy a house. There's no excuse. You can even get a mobile home if you don't make that much.
