Actor Henry Cavill, Superman in the highly anticipated reboot from director Zack Snyder, reveals in Entertainment Weekly the four Superman comic books that inspired his portrayal in Man of Steel. Some of the answers may surprise you, check it out!
giannis - 4/22/2013 Henry Cavill had almost 75 years of Superman comics to draw inspiration, and in an interview with Entertainment Weekly the Twenty-Nine-year-old actor shared that he read as much comics as he could, but there were four in particular that he managed to stand out, which inspired his portrayal in the reboot Man of Steel.
"I read as much as I could, purely because I wanted to get a great reservoir of knowledge from the source material. There are so many different representations of the character that it was easy to draw a baseline and pick and choose some flavors. They’re all facets and aspects of the same character, so you’ve just got to combine them and can play around with them and apply it to the script."
Henry Cavill on The Return of Superman: "It wasn’t consciously the weaknesses that I picked out, it was more so the different facets of his character and how actually some character traits continued across no matter what." On Superman: Red Son, which in this stand-alone graphic novel Superman was landed in in the USSR instead of the USA: "He’s still doing the right thing it’s just he happens to be somewhere else." and on Superman/Batman: The Search for Kryptonite: "He’s inherently good, he’s raised by very good people, but it doesn’t mean he’s not going to have an emotional reaction to something." He has great willpower — incredible willpower — but sometimes your emotions get the better of you."

hell no! For one it would blur the line between smallville (small time tv show) and "man of steel" (WB's foray into bringing more DC characters to screen). Dude started to look like larry holmes in the latter seasons anyway. And judging by his steez during comicon he's kind of feeling himself so I doubt hed want to play superman again
