Insurance companies are a big part of the problem for sure, but if you can reduce the cost by 65% simply by cutting them out, thats something we should seriously look at.:manny:
Whats interesting is how much cheaper those same drugs were under Medicare. How do you feel about a single payer system? You probably dont trust government to handle healthcare but I definitely see benefits to it. In this case, private companies do seem to be doing more harm than anything. As a disclaimer, i'm probably simplifying all the variables at hand but its a discussion this country needs to take a little bit more seriously than it has.

Nothing is "cheaper" under medicare/medicaid, the cost is just spread. Instead of an individual paying the cost we all pay it. It isnt reduced.

Semantics and relativity. To someone paying the bill its definitely cheaper. Basically, our taxes go towards affordable healthcare for citizens :ohhh:. Lets discuss private medical providers selling goods at ridiculous markups as well. R&D and marketing dont explain many of the costs hospitals are paying. Im not challenging you or anything, just building with someone with different outlooks on things.

:dwillhuh:

Isn't that the point of private insurance companies (supposedly) ? To spread costs? Only problem is that private insurance companies LOBBY for high hospital prices. It benefits them because the high prices are their greatest marketing tool.

Wouldn't that be the entire point of socially funded medicine, everyone chips in to help? It seems to work fine wherever it has been implemented.

:manny: Its a great idea, and a "good" thing for sure. I just disagree with it being it being mandated, and forced upon supposedly free individuals. If it wont work with out shoving it down everyones throat, i'm against it, and it probably isnt that great anyway.

disgusting but not surprising. We got hospitals charging $20 for a single uncoated Tylenol and $100 for a clean pillow (billed as cranium support device) and lol at 65% discount for self pay. That don't mean shyt when your being charged several hundred percent more than u should for treatment.

as I've said before, I'm done engaging in debate with you because it's pointless.

:cape: for a system that will do everything it can to financially destroy you if u ever have a serious emergency, breh.
