You could end up prehistoric times for all you know, walk out the door into the land of the lost
Then you get back into the time machine and go to another era
That's assuming you can go back through the door, or don't die within seconds of emerging into a prehistoric earth that isn't suitable for life

You have no idea how big it is, where it’s located. If it requires any materials/electricity to operate properly.
You have to try and hide that shyt so no one else finds it, constantly have to worry about it. Someone else could easily find that shyt and your time machine is gone for good.
Schedule exactly how you use it and predict what will be in the area as soon as you arrive. Shyt you can go back just a few years and end up trapped in a ditch, hell too far in the future end up falling off a building.
Incredibly annoying. A time machine would only be useful and reliable the first time you use it. It’s a liability directly afterwards.

Which means you never went back in time and fukked up the present. Which means you end up finding the thread and traveling back in time. Get stuck in a time paradox brehs... All because you were trying to be smart.
