that was just the start of it. traffic is so awful in sao paulo and the increase was going to be used on stadium and tourism amenities instead of road construction or any other infrastructure development. they fukked with the wealthiest and most educated city in brazil, and the people fought back. from there it became a protest against the gross and blatant corruption and spread across the country

if anything the workers party is corporatist, they've never actually followed through on their promise of socialist democracy. hence the protests

Brazilian economy is anything but capitalist.
I have never heard anyone refer to Brazilians as capitalist :obama3:

I saw capitalist instead of "corporatist", either you have changed it or I misread.
Either way the Brazilian people need to demand whatever new money the economy needs, should come from the paychecks of the elites...

Subsidizing the lifestyles of the wealthy at the poor's expense is exactly what we do in the US. Unless you're willing to call the US socialist, which would be utterly idiotic, there's no point in such generalization.
They won the bus fare battle, but the protests are only getting bigger.
