I am not a baseball fan but if you can actually play Baseball pays the most with the least damage to you physically. 192 games sucks but at least you're not destroying your knees like Basketball or getting your brains bashed in like Football. Soccer is coming too and in 20 years the money will be like NFL money at least in our domestic leagues fukk looking cool or being black enough. It's all about the benjamins.

I don't know where the Hell this being Black enough to play major league baseball came from. Many baseball players were straight up brothers. They used to wear gold chains and have toothpicks in their mouths when playing. Young Black people are crazy with this not being Black enough shyt. Hell young nikkas so dumb they don't even know why they are wearing fitted baseball hats today and why they are wearing Pirates baseball gear. They are wearing the shyt because of "We are Family", which was the Pittsburgh Pirates team of 70's that won the World Series with a lot Black American players.

Young people clearly never saw guys like Darryl Strawberry, Dwight Gooden, Ricky Henderson, Andre Dawson, Dusty Baker, Hank Aaron etc. Those dudes where Blacker than dudes in the NBA; because the dudes in MLB actually dealt on the front lines of racism. Not Black enough? Take a look at this shyt:

That is a toothpick in that nikka's mouth. That is UL Washington.

And nikkas wore gold chains during the games. You can't see them in this picture of Ricky Henderson, but he wore them all the time.

Dock Ellis wore rollers in his hair:

Brothers wore Gerri-curls. Here is a picture of Gary Templeton and Andre Dawson:

Hell I am beginning to think that young African American people are the ones who aren't Black enough if they don't know the history of Black American baseball players.

I was just comparing the two in a sense that Domincans don't have the facilities like the USA does yet they are currently dominating the MLB. Playing with a stick and a bottle cap actual does help them eye coordination.

Right now the MLB lacks two things. Speed and Power, something African-Americans can easily contribute if they give baseball a chance.

Old school African American ball players didn't have the facilities either. You should read the book "I had a Hammer" written by Lonnie Wheeler about Hank Aaron. Old school players didn't even have gloves and bats and stuff; they just willed themselves through sheer natural ability to get to the pros. Hell they couldn't even go to MLB; they actually had to go to the Negro Leagues. Those dudes could just flat out play, just like in the NBA and the NFL.

It sounds like they got a young black guy to do the voice-over work instead of the white 60-year old baseball announcer type. People in the comments are complaining they can't understand what Jones is saying, that's because the video isn't directed at them.

I wasn't aware of Adam Jones, I don't watch sports, but I can see why MLB is using him, he has the gift of gab and is funny, like a Charles Barkley or Deion Sanders.

Not it's not. Baseball is actually in a lot of trouble, because they are living off of their last major television contract. Baseball has committed the sin of losing younger viewers, which means that the next baseball contract is going to be significantly lower if baseball doesn't do something to bring younger viewers back. People aren't even watching the World series anymore.

MLB has studied this trend for a long time and they concluded that young viewers weren't watching MLB games, but young viewers were watching NFL and college football and the NBA and college basketball. MLB drew one conclusion; they need African Americans to come back to baseball. That is the reason behind the inner city baseball initiatives; Jackson Robinson games and so forth.

Baseball has even attempted to market their players like the NBA markets there players. Haven't you noticed the Adam Jones commercials?

My theory is that MLB scouts are very happy to see that the concussion issues in the NFL have been made public. I think that scouts are telling a lot of the high school football players that risk less major injuries in baseball and that they can have a longer career. I bet a lot of those kids were not listening until this stuff came out. People seem to forget that some of the best baseball players in the history of MLB were actually African American that played football.

You don't have to convince me. The explosion of Basketball and the Bling era of the NFL in the 80s and 90s gutted pro baseball of black talent imo. The sandlot era ended in the black communities of America when all these bball courts started going up and Jordan reached godlike status. The irony is that Jordan loved baseball more.

Adam Jones played basketball and football as kid. He didn't pick up a baseball bat until 12 and got interested in the sport after his stepfather took him to a Padres game.

Jones is married to the daughter of Jean Fugett. Fugett played basketball but did not play football until his senior year of high school, both offense and defense. In 1968 he was the first black to become Baltimore Catholic Athlete of the year. He was 16. While in the NFL, he went to night school to get his law degree at George Washington University. After the NFL he went to work for his brother Reginald Lewis. Lewis was the first black to own a billion dollar corporation and was worth $400 million at the time of his death in 1993.

baseball needs to do something to fix its boring image :manny:

Baseball didn't use to be boring until African Americans left the game and then the steroids came in. This is why baseball wants African Americans back.
