Magic got a point. Why do the current generation feel they don’t have to listen to the OGs that played before them? If the athletes were more conditioned I think the nba season would be more entertaining to watch as well as the all star game. People will say you a old head but it’s just not the same.

Because of the shytty way that a lot of those OGs treat the current generation that's why.

A lot of those OGs would be under the same load management regiment that this current generation is on if data and analytics were available and they wouldn't be dealing as many health issues as they are now.

One thing I do agree with is when he talks about shortened training camp. Players are using the preseason and the first 10 games of the season to get in shape. That's why you see so much sloppy basketball in the beginning of the season and wonder like :dwillhuh: what have these dudes been doing all summer

Also the playing all 82 games comment. You need to build up that stamina so you can risk injuries

IMO I feel that's why alot of people get injured alot in February/March. They usually have low minutes per game during the season, then all of a sudden start to ramp it up in preparation for the playoffs and their body can't handle it

It could be some jealousy look at how hard the OGs had to play for their contracts. This generation contracts bigger because of the OGs and they don’t work or play as hard. I think the OGs tough because they want the league to sustain.

This generation contracts bigger but their lack of commitment to their conditioning and playing is at an all time low. The All Star game been an embarrassment. I feel Lebron should take some accountability.

Major medical difference is playing on ankle sprains

These are two week minimum injuries in modern basketball

You can knock off 5 plus games right there. Before you get to more serious body issues

They shortened training camp/preseason so they could start the season earlier and reduce the amount of back to backs, 4 games in 5 nights, etc. during the season

As far as the OG stuff, let’s be for real was 24 year old Magic in the 80’s trying to be preached to by players from the 40s & 50s like George Mikan, Paul Arizin, Dolph Schayes, etc.?

Karl Malone played in 82 games a season 9 seasons of his career.
Anthony Davis played in 82 games a season 0 times
Draymond Green played in 82 games once in his NBA career.

Clearly the nba stars of yesterday were more conditioned.
Why you use Karl Malone as an example when players during his era weren't even playing games like that?

Lebron only played in 82 games only once his career.
Kevin Garnett played in 82 games 4 seasons.

They don’t go as hard in the regular season they don’t put on for all star weekend but they get bigger contracts.

Paul George has spoken on this and said it's a major factor.

You need to be conditioned for the grind.

Is that supposed to change anything about what I said considering that NBA teams are still out here doing it even with that report out there?
