I checked his IMDB page before I posted my comment, and I stand by it. Machete Kills flopped hard. Get the Gringo went straight to pay-per-view. Beaver flopped hard. Edge of Darkness was a Taken rip-off and also flopped, though not as hard as the others on this list. Whereas he was acting in several movies a year and directing critically-acclaimed films before, these 4 movies make up the entirety of his acting work between 2006 and now, and Expendables 3, which is premised on bringing together action stars who are past their prime, is next.

Remember, this was the man who was being hailed as a serious director and getting praise showered on him for films like Apocalypto. There is no way anyone can claim that 2006 didn't cripple his career.
