As a daily user of a MacBook Pro and iMac 27” I feel it’s my responsibility to tell you unless you absolutely need to be in apples eco system, keep away from these price gouging anti-consumer jerks.
What competes with their build quality?

There's plenty of machines that compete with their build.
I'll let the PC heads provide the stan lists. I'm just saying take it from a guy that is on this mac life 24/7 due to work.
If it wasn't for the fact that all my projects rely on macos exclusive software I'd be on windows.
Apple rely got me on one since the soldered ram and trash can pro models.
They beat you over the head with the price, dollar for dollar they can't compete with the horsepower on a similar windows machine and once you go apple the only option you have to upgrade is bushing your $2,000 machine and buying a whole new one.
I mean, for what I specifically do for work, I love their machines.
I'm just saying, that apple logo isnt the end all be all and you can get more bang for your buck elsewhere and won't be missing out on much.

I’m well aware of Apple and the bullshyt anti consumer practices they do.

I still have yet to find another company that can compete with there build quality.

The M1s outperform all Intel laptop cpus, I think. And the great thing about Macs is you can sell them on Swappa in an instant and someone will buy your 7 year old laptop for 60% of what you paid
