I didnt even know who MOP was. I got put on to them when I was a kid. I had signed up for the 1 cent cds that columbia use to have where the just constanly sent you cds. i got that one by accident. The lawd was looking out for me when he blessed me with that beautiful album. :blessed:

Listening to this right now

Such a great album. So many bangers on there. Top notch production. So many quotables.

It's odd how M.O.P. kind of disappeared after this. I thought they had a lot of momentum from this album.

I know. It’s a bummer. I can’t believe they signed to Rocafella and G-Unit, and didn’t drop an album on either. They had crazy momentum after Warriorz. I still go back and forth between if I like Warriorz or First Family more.

I think Warriorz might be better, but I think I like First Family more. It had the better introspective joints and the better Primo joints.

anybody remember when mop did that song with some boy band, fukking total failure of a cross over

Yes, I remember it was around 2001

It inspired a 37x platinum thread on SOHH ... it was one of the bigger hip-hop controversies of the time

Hell yeah. They have a massive following overseas.

I think they've even done at least one, if not two albums fully produced by some European kids.

I think they could've even had a crowd here in the States that follows metal/hard rock. They had a window where MTV was kind of covering them as almost the "Metallica of hip-hop." I remember that exact description used a few times on MTV and in some magazines. I wonder if that angle had been pushed a little more if they could've had a weird crossover fanbase here in America.
