The music industry has always been a house of cards. It was based on physical sales and loaning artists money they could never pay back which meant the labels kept all of the profits. Now artists can make their own content and merch for way less than huge label budgets.

The new/old hustle are these pretend management companies like United Masters who just take a cut of your money for literally doing nothing you couldn’t do yourself.

Since physical sales went away, the industry hasn’t figured out a way to properly exploit artists for the billions they’re used to getting. The 360 was a hot thing when artists were touring, but now that’s mostly dead.

Yeah, back in 08. It worked out for him coz he parlayed that cash into RocNation...but for most other nikkas it's probably a bad deal, especially if you're not a long term planner.

Nah cuzzo :francis: . Dont give em the Rocnation PR spin :pachaha:

Live nation owns a large portion of ROCNATION to THIS DAY. Thats why its called rocNATION it was a merger.

Which is quite literally what Lupe was talking about. They put the machine behind you once you become part of the machine.

Jay-Z signed a 360 deal with Live Nation :patrice:
He signed for 150 mill. Everyone knows that.

He reup for like 250 i think

He got the bread up front and him and live nation spilt the profits on all the other income.

For someone like Jay is a win easy. For someone who don’t have alot of success it’s not.

lupe was shytting on lasers before it even released lol

Lasers was heavily ATLANTIC influenced. Which keeps on going back to his original point.

If you dont play ball with these motherfukkas they aint PUSHING or PROMOTING yo shyt. Even if it would make em money. Its a power and control thing.

This shyt is crazy :hhh:

I wonder if they were doing that to all their artist or just guys like Lupe cause he is mo "alternative" and "backpack" than street.

Like were these nikkas hoing Meek and Kevin Gates around like this?:what:, but then again them boys prolly signed 360s so Atlantic let em rock out :francis:

But what does that have to do with him putting out garbage music? :gucci:

After he dropped the cool, he released weed plate after weed plate after weed plate…
Lol, I was going to say this. I don't doubt that Lyor is a snake, but his music was trash, more promo wouldn't have changed that.
