Body of Work

Quiet in the court for the courtship
Marriage of the dork and the gorgeous
Took her from the king of the corpses
He revolved, jumped the wall of the fort with the horses
This is foretold, Bojangles was tapping in morse code
At least to the mad man genius, tap top secrets and more gold

Not even gon lie...the hook to Deliver was jokes at first but that shyt really hit home because for a while the pizza man didn't deliver to my hood as a youngin either :mjcry:

Indeed.

When I heard "Adoration of the Magi" (and asked myself just why it sounded so odd for a Lupe song), I knew that I had to hear everything in the context of the album.

My opinion of Food and Liquor II has soured a bit over the last three years because, while it has some pretty good songs on it, the last half of that album kind of falls off a cliff songwriting-wise. The raps are good, but the compositions don't hold up.

No problem with that here.

On a first listen, this sounds amazing. Easily his best album since The Cool, with a sound that matches My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy in its density and complexity at times (and it sounds beautiful. Not just production wise, engineering-wise. Maybe a bit loud, but this just sounds great in ways that most commercial albums don't these days. This is all pending further analysis, of course). I might be overreacting here, but Lupe's songs haven't sounded this good in 8 fukking years. It actually justifies its ridiculous running time, which is amazing for a rap album.

Hope it holds up to repeated listens.

This is a hard listen as of Prisoner 1&2. I'm really trying.

he said "slipping through the cracks like when you try to grill gruel". Who grills gruel?

S1 is wack to me too. Ol' light ass religified, glory, glory hallelujah production.

Lupe lost his fukking mind on TRON :mindblown:
I NEVER heard him rap like this b4. Do you hear his delivery on that track :damn:
nikka sounds possessed

I don't have a 'Tron' on mine. I have 16 tracks. Am i missing something?

edit:

the beat on Prisoner 2 is the first actual factual BANGER thus far. Tell me I'm lying.

Man, I had the exact feeling when I played it the 2nd time
It's definitely becoming a bit more clear on repeated listening.

I believe Body of Work is about drugs and he's using the slang "white girl" as a metaphor for most of the song.....I think.

Incase nikkas think Lupe just rapping to be rapping on Mural

"My reposition was black condition of activism
I'm ammunition for abolition, missions attacking systems
But they not after listens, unless it's dropping on Activision
Are we app-soul, are we bodies filled with apparition
Operating applications, stuck inside a apple prison
Check and hack downloads, updates that lack religion?"

Still kicking that knowledge...
