I still stand by T&You as album of the year over To Pimp a Butterfly. Even thought TPaB is "more important "

It's more important socially to the person. T&Y is more important spiritually to me even though i wouldnt call it a religious album. imo at least

Maybe spiritually is the wrong term but the whole album to me came off as one person learning to overcome his own demons while juggling his worldly fascinations. Kendricks album seemed to be talking to the people moreso than just one person.

There's tons of religious imagery throughout the album.

Matter of fact, nearly every song has religious references. Especially Christian ones

exactly. but i wouldnt say religion was the dominant theme throughout the album. idk i gotta relisten...been a lil minute

That's the beautiful thing about this album. Lupe's painting pictures consisting of various overlapping themes and leaves the listeners to interpret what they took from it.

He really structured the album as an abstract painting, as the cover demonstrates. Despite his crypticlyrical approach on some songs, he still brought the bars and quotables :ohlawd:

That's what separates Lu from damn near every "lyricists" that came after him. Kenny included.
