Ab Soul's guest verse almost ruined TRON :wow:

Those ad-libs :mjcry:

I swear after one of his lines he just went "Space :skip:" :laff:
The resurrection of Michael Young History. Lupe's been throwing hints

As far as the album title goes, Fiasco insists that he did not name his album after Japanese manga series Akira character Tetsuo Shima -- "For me, Tetsuo sounds cool" -- but admits to being loosely inspired by the biker-gang member who's bombarded with destructive, psycho-kinetic abilities. "You can hate him for what he's done, but it's not just him being an a$$hole," Fiasco says. "How that relates to me as a person -- you can take that however you want, but it was more like, let me get to the emotion of that misguided anger and make this sound like a song."

Tetsuo & Youth = Michael Young History
Gave it two spins in the gym tonight and it brought some clarity to the narrative for me. I'll briefly just give my thoughts on each track and what it could possibly mean (at least one of the meanings, as each song is obviously complex and multi-layered). I think there's a few interwoven themes all happening at the same time. "The Game" with all the video game references, reincarnation and the religious aspect as far as cruxifiction/Christ, drugs and addiction, and racing/road/lines (which could refer to cocaine lines, tying into the drug thing).

THIS COULD BE COMPLETELY WRONG AND I COULD BE REACHING LIKE HELL, BUT fukk IT, THAT'S HALF THE FUN, RIGHT?

Note: this is going in backwards order, as I believe it is how the album is intended to be listened to. Also, I believe the album, as pertaining to the narrative, is about THIS version of Michael Young History (remember how he died and came back to life on "The Cool"? I think something similar happened here.)

This tweet is of upmost importance:

T.R.O.N.- The "re-spawning of MYH has taken place and this is MYH making his "oath" to "The Streets" and "The Game".

I thought that was glasses Malone.

Lupe had the best verse to me. Those opening bars let you know he was not playing. :wow:

Even the ad-libs leading up to the verse had me with the :lupe: face of anticipation

"Uuuh huh…..my niggga…..whayadoing?"

Dots & Lines is hilarious to me :russ:

Dude absolutely shytting on the idea of signing a record deal (specifically a 360 deal) in the nicest way possible

That damn hook has been stuck in my head since I've heard it

Sacred geometry :noah:

Then a line, then a line, then a line, then a line....

look just like where i'ma be :wow:

Dooooooooooooooon't sign

The lyrics are so clever... I specifically think he's talking about 360 deals in this because of his history with Atlantic and because of the choice of words that he used throughout the song. The "go straight" in the hook, the whole sacred geometry theme and the second verse when he's droppin' the bars referencing degrees and circles.

It's a catchy ass song with a powerful message for a lot of up and coming artists that might go over the casual listener's head

:ohhh:

Plus, Put You On Game was the last part of the story on The Cool... Listening to Youth & Tetsuo TRON was the 1st music track... TRON with all the videogame shyt and drug references... :ohhh:
And i think someone in here said mural had alot of gold references(can't find the post), plus he talks about the essentials of cool, weird combination of fly things he likes

plus there's alot of cartoon references, and the beat for gold watch sounds like a cartoon

Mural - Gold watch:whoo:

Little death = Gotta Eat?:krs:

It's like every song on this album is an equivalent to some song on the cool:ohhh:

No one is saying Dots & Lines is wack :whoa:

It's just not as good as everything else (imo) :banderas:

It fits the mold of summer best for sure so I won't argue it's positioning on the album, but it also would have been a great outro track....maybe a hidden bonus that plays right after Spring.

It has a celebratory "I'm finally free from this label" vibe and I think making it the last song would've been very effective.

The fact this album even came out untarnished by Atlantic is amazing to me. There's not one record on here that reeks of "ewww Atlantic made him do this one" on the album. Blur My Hands is the most radio friendly but it doesn't sound compromised lyrically or thematically at all. Deliver also fit the mold because of it being the shortest and least least layered song on the album. That's why it was the album's single, but it definitely wasn't forced on him either.

This is the only rap album besides Good Kid mAAd and Logic's Under Pressure I've heard this decade that has no tracks I ever think to skip. All 3 are true gems from start to finish.

This is the kinda album where one person says "that was probably my least favorite" and a bunch of people jump in and say "WHAT? THAT SONG WAS DOPE"

That's how you know you're dealing with a classic.
