Why do you say?

Its an inside joke between me and @spliz

Basically Lupe went on his IG Live maybe 3 years ago and said that he met with Nas in the studio and they had a great conversation and Nas gave him his number. The next day he texted Nas “Lets do an EP dedicated to Amy Whinehouse” and Nas left him on read and never responded lmao.

Lupe never met Amy Whinehouse whilst Nas and Amy were really close friends. Spliz pointed out that Lupe asking Nas to
Collaborate on an EP dedicated to Amy when Lupe never knew her might come off as a boneheaded move.

Samurai is one of his best songs.
lol

I've been a fan of Lupe since the mixtape days. Dating back to the IC (AllHipHop) and SOHH days. Used to sing his praises heavily to the point that people on his team would DM with links to tapes before they even dropped.

With that being said, man GTFOH.

:mjlol:

If you think Samurai is on of his best songs, you really do not know a damn thing about his discography or what a "good" song sounds like.

I appreciate Lupe for Lupe and i’m also aware that he was traumatized by the shyt that went down at Atlantic to the point where he said “fukk it. I’m focusing STRICTLY on lyrics”. He’s said that himself.

Drill Music In Zion was a really good album to me and i’m expecting Samurai to be the same. Lupe fulfills my “lyrical miracle” listening needs and i’ve got Kendrick, Cole, Joey Badass, and of course the legends like Nas, Common, and Pusha T if I want to hear expertly crafted balancing between lyricism and song writing.

In my mind Lupe already proved he can be an excellent song maker if he so desires. His first three albums are chalk full of great SONGS that don’t go overboard.

He was already making the Winehouse album before he met Nas in the studio. He asked Nas to collab for an EP (Not for the Winehouse album) but he didn’t respond.

You’re telling me Samurai isn’t good?
:stopitslime:
Jawn is his highest rated single on various platforms for a reason.

How you gonna say this to someone in a 100% subjective, opinion-based art form like music? Especially rap music. People like what they like…and dislike what they dislike. Person isn’t wrong for loving a piece of art and thinking it’s one of an artist’s best just because you don’t agree, it’s art, 🤷🏽‍♂️

If you haven't already, listen to Mick Jenkins instead. Younger and just more in tune and sharper lyrically than most of these guys right now... Including Lupe

Saying the song is one of his best, is disrespectful to his catalog. Subjectively speaking. No. It's not, let's just cut the bullshyt
