Just gave it a listen for the first time in a while and it still carries so easily and so well.

Wish we could get all of his mixtapes on a streaming service.

This is the only Lupe mixtape I ever heard, ish is fire…he has some alien level rapping/storytelling wordplay ish on here. What are his best mixtapes besides this one? 🫡

The Truth Is Among Us and Revenge Of The Nerds are my go-to's. He was doing schemes a decade before everyone else caught on and the lyrical density still felt effortless back then. It's a mix of his Arista days when he was unironically saying, "Pimps up, hoes down" and the conceptual beginnings of what would define F&L and beyond. For more of the former, check the F&L advance. A Rhyming Ape is Lupe over Gorillaz beats, short and sweet, probably freestyled most of it. Enemy Of The State is similar to DMIZ in that he did it in a day or so, nothing but straight bars. I think Friend Of The People is the most polarizing one, but might be the closest to the original vision he had for the eclectic sound of Lasers. You got dubstep and Coltrane on the same project and everything in between, worth checking for Double Burger With Cheese alone.

This.

Fahrenheit 1/15th pt 1 & 2…:whew: When Lupe was still straddling the line between the streets, hood shyt & consciousness

By the time pt3 came out in late 05 he all but ditched the gangsta shyt, and was pretty much the Lupe we got on Food & Liquor retail

All of it classic material and peak mainstream Lupe, when his come up and buzz on the internet was rising

About to jump into all these shyts this week, appreciate y’all.

Is there any project where Lupe was on some straight gangsta/ignorant type ish? Lol, with his skill set and ability it would be ill to see what he does with it

I wouldn’t say he was ignorant for the entirety of a project, but Fahrenheit pt. 1 is prolly the most hood shyt, mostly the loosies and older mixtape joints like FNF vol 1, Lupe the Jedi tape… which are really discombobulated and can’t be found in their original format

Lupe was spittin that West side d boy hustler slick shyt
