Lupe Fiasco stays solidifying his reputation as Hip-Hop's most polarizing artist. Recently, D.L. Hughley rehashed the criticism of the Chicago rapper's decision not to vote in government in elections, going as far as saying he was "dumb." Taking to Twitter, last night Lupe, while making sure to mention his new album, Food & Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album, Pt. 1, drops September 25th, name checked Roland S. Martin and Hughley, and implored them to leave him be when it comes to his decision not to participate in the electoral process. Lupe even used the latest Hip-Hop catch phrase ("You gon' get this work," popularized by a battle between Loaded Lux and Calicoe) to make his point, while calling out "uppity ni--as."

1. MLK never told people not to vote. He was an active voter himself.

2. No one ever said voting was the only, or even the main way of leading people out of subjugation.

3. What wounds does Lupe have to heal from? He was never a slave. And furthermore, does he really think he can just sit around and "heal" and then join in or start some kind of struggle? The struggle been around for a long time, and you can't be neutral on a moving train- either you do something about it or the bad shyt will keep happening. Healing is both part of fixing the problem and what can only truly be complete after the problems are dealt with. You can't pretend to unplug yourself like that because that's not how it works.

4. If the US did what it did in the name of God instead of corporate profit, would it really be better?
