a LOT of people on this forum are saying they don't understand any of the verses.
i'm one of them and i would consider myself a fairly astute person by academic and common sense standards. between the confusing beat, the semi-fast word play, and the lyrics, this shyt made no sense to me!

and i'll tell you something else, even after reading his bullshyt decoding it still doesn't make sense. this is the definition of an emcee trying too hard to be deep!! and poet laureatte II is one of my favorite songs of all time!! this shyt is just annoying.

Even though he is indeed making the song a little more difficult to understand, its not like hes using outstanding vocabulary for people to be completely clueless. Here's what I thought when I first heard it.

The first few bars painted a perfect exorcism scene, but I didn't think the whole verse first was dedicated to that image. To me it sounds like he's talking about hip hop in general when he says "Listen not to what he speaks that's been the cursing of his cause/chords...a seduction of his senses by the devils he adores...shun him while in public disallow him from your stores."

The second verse made it evident that it was something with lobotomy when he raps "...how she slipped from this existence to the realm of the deranged... blank slate when she recovers she won't even know her name, perfect wife and perfect lover, no resistance, no complaints..", but I didn't really picture it as a presentation.

The last verse is clear to his message. Although, when I heard "now he sit next to the picture of his wife when she was raped..." it through me off. Its still a little confusing to me now. They killed this man, went back to the states, now this man's picture is next to a picture of his wife being raped? It sounds like out of a movie or something. I didn't realize he was talking about someone political with his last few bars. I should of noticed that since you hear a president at the end say "my fellow americans."

I obviously didn't get everything 100%, but some of the posts I seen about the song is really depressing. I'm not going to quote them or anything, but I get a sad feeling people really don't listen to LYRICS anymore.

If you can't nod your head to the beat its garbage.
If you can't sing along after bumping it a few times its garbage.

If people are sincerely confused about some of the vocabulary stop being lazy and open a fukking dictionary. Ain't no shame in LEARNING brehs. More power to you.

It isn't about the vocabulary just the meaning of the verses...nikkas always have 2 or 3 meanings with his verses. :comeon:
