If the Mavs were gonna give out a long term deal, they should've done it for Demarcus Cousins.

That's exactly why along with his attitude. Only player came back to his previous level after that type of injury that I can remember is Dominique Wilkins. Elton Brand Wes Matthews and Kobe all came back as shells of themselves after the same injury.
