I don't even know if they could, at this point.
It was the perfect storm of AAA having all this talent that was popping up on the indies, a lack of a second large company and Robert Rodriguez having his own network.
Closest I've heard to anything that could be in the same ballpark was Freddie Prinze Jr.'s recent idea for a company, but that's still a while away, if it even happens.

The roster basically sued to get out of their contracts and AEW started signing talent right around the same time.

for awhile I've believed that you can't really have a good live wrestling show and a good tv show
all these best tv shows take months (if not years) to write out storylines and tape them...it's no surprise was LU was so good in part due to that
Lucha Underground was outstanding, but it was a taped show.
Nothing ever looked out of place because they could go back and fix it. The storylines all played out as they meant to,which is another benefit of not being live and having to adjust for injuries etc.
Behind the scenes, they shafted the talent on contracts, and tried to keep them locked in for years. Konnan and Vampiro were on some lucha carny shyt, for real.
With that said, ending the final season with Jake Hager as the top heel was

Whether it was pre-taped or not, it was some of the best wrestling during it's short run. Introduced many of us to some of the stars now in AEW and a few in WWE/NXT. Cinematically some of the best wrestling work I've ever seen. The look of the temple was very well done, they made creative decisions that really made it stand out from others. I've yet to see wrestlers be introduced better than LU's video packages. Look up anything Killshot and you'll see what I mean. Imaginative, creative, daring and built a mythology with each episode. fukkin loved Lucha Underground.

In 30 and change years watching this shyt, LU is the best wrestling TV show I've ever seen.
Damn shame what happened to it in the end.
I enjoy AEW but producing a touring wrestling show broadcast live on TV does seem like a bit of a lost opportunity. With TK's and TNT's budget we could've been getting The Wire of pro wrestling by now.
I'll still enjoy AEW though. And WWE when it hits. It's just we've seen how it can be done now.

I guess I wasn’t bugging when I was thinking this. I loved aew last year. Now I watch it but it doesn’t hit the same. Idk man. It’s off to me. And wwe I haven’t watched since like 2001 and I really don’t wanna watch it cuz it looks like it’s too PG. lucha underground tho even the women knew how to wrestle. Sexy star put in work. Not many matches disappointed. And they would come up with crazy matches like the “believers” hitting wrestlers with belts and shyt.
