Crunk had bigger songs that stood the test of time. Trap is just more dominant over a longer period of time. When Crunk was a thing, you had all kinds of different movements that became popular in the mainstream off of crunk:

And even trap elements has some roots in crunk.

crunk - better party music

trap = better listening music

trap is much more musical while crunk is better hype/party/workout music
