As far as qualifications for president go, “developing golf courses and hotels” has never really been up there on the list. But here we are with Donald Trump all but ensured of the Republican nomination, thanks in part to a resume that includes “golf course and hotel developer.” What a world.
Anyway, former Notre Dame football coach Lou Holtz seems to think golf course and hotel development is a key asset for any presidential candidate, and said so in his endorsement of Trump, which Trump naturally put on his Twitter feed.

“The main reason I’m endorsing him: I’ve played his golf course [and] I’ve stayed in his hotel,” Holtz said. “He does nothing but go first class in everything, he wants this country to be first class as well.”
Trump seemingly has the former college coaches from the state of Indiana endorsement locked up ahead of Tuesday’s state primary. Former Hoosiers men’s basketball coach Bobby Knight of course appeared with Trumpduring a speech in Indiana last week, and Trump said in a speech Monday night that Holtz and former Purdue men’s basketball coach Gene Keady would be endorsing him, as well. So is former Notre Dame men’s basketball coach Digger Phelps.
Keady, at least, touted Trump’s foreign-policy views.
“I heard his foreign policy speech the other day. I just said he won himself the presidency,” he said.
