Since the discussion is going on in the other thread, I'll mention Hamed-Barrera as a fight that had me :to:. I knew Barrera was good and Hamed's best opponent to date, but I was such a Hamed stan. I thought Hamed was going to win and continue his reign of swag.
Being young and not too knowledgeable about the technical intricacies I kept wanting Hamed to turn it on and kick Barrera's ass, but it never happened. He couldn't mess with Barrera's boxing skills. And then Barrera put Hamed's head into the turnbuckle :damn:.

its even worse when you see a fighter who's been damaged live and uncut..when I moved to mass a decade ago there was a dude in the gym that I worked out at...I honestly thought he was special ed with the way he looked..when he talked it was almost intelligible at times....but when he boxed it was clear dude had serious skills...so i remember i asked another dude his story...he told me he was a highly touted amateur and a national champion to boot in the early 90s...but suffered 2 bad losses in a row as a pro and he declined..one of those losses was mentioned in a book of heavyweight upsets of the 90s...only 20 something pro fights...and at the time he was in his early 30s actually in training for a comeback..now in his early 40s his speech is just like meldrick's and he's developed an onset of parkinsons...its sad man
