He has two songs in the top 40, one of the hottest mixtapes of the year, he's arguably the face of "mumble rap", and him and A$AP Mob have a big influence on the aesthetic and fashion of modern hip-hop, dude bubbled from SoundCloud and is one of the prime examples of how music is digested in 2017. I'd say he's made a splash on the culture.
