Numbers wise he wasn’t but if you watched him he didn’t look good

i mean you could kinda make the same argument about fields. the results have been good overall. but there were still holes that (i imagine) allowed tomlin to feel good about a change.

I don’t think Fields is very good either but Wilson hasn’t looked good in about three seasons

Russ wasn’t bad last year

He wasn't at all.

26tds
8 ints/5 fumbles lost
98 QB Rating

45 sacks is ugly, but the WRs were meh at best. Courtland Sutton is solid, but he's no 1. Jeudy has sadly been a bust. :mjcry:

I need you to define good because his numbers placed him favorably with his peers:

Broncos weren't all that great talent wise and his head coach didn't want him nor put him in the best position to succeed or play to his strengths.

People still putting the stench of Nathaniel Hackett and that disaster of a season on Russ.

If another QB not named Russell Wilson had a season with 26 TDs with 8 INTs then hit the FA market they would've got the Brinks truck from somebody

Daniel Jones had people saying he was a franchise QB and got paid off a 15 & 5 season.

It's fascinating how a combination of Darrell Bevell's play choice with Pete Carroll's blessing along with defensive player's jealousy has colored how people think of him for years when off the field he's awkward, but he's a ridiculously good person.

Russ won't be prime Russ ever again, but at worst he'll be a slightly more athletic Joe Flacco. He'll make sure the offense is in the best position to win on a play and if you remember he's older now and don't expose him too much he'll be effective. Fields still ain't on the level of "veteran professional QB". A lot of teams could get a pass for not going that route considering the Sean Payton scapegoating, but the Raiders choosing Minschew over him should be studied.
