I agree with Hilary but why are black people putting this all on the Clintons? Is it selective memory or is it an ignorance of history? Because majority of black people supported the crime bill. 2/3s of the Congressional Black Caucus as well as many black mayors as well as Senator Carol Mosely Braun supported the bill. Were the Clintons supposed to know more than them and the black constituencies they represent?

If a conversation is going to be had then it equally needs to be had with black people.

Personally, I'm not a soft on crime person. I live in Chicago and it's some real demons out here and these folks need to be off the streets. You have to convince me and other black folks like me that if another crime bill is proposed that there is another way to handle this situation because as of today, we've had Lightfoot and now Brandon with Kim Foxx and the crime situation has gotten out of control from when Daley and Emmanuel were in office, and if another bill is proposed, I'm going to be in favor of it without any hesitation. And if the crime situation in the 90's was worse than it is today, I could see why black people supported it and I can see black people supporting another one if dropped today.

The conversation needs to be had with law abiding black people living in these communities fed up with the bullshyt.

You have to convince us before you can ever think to convince white politicians.
